The Rexford, Mont., station of the Great Northern Railway was established in 1903. It was closed in 1972 when the railroad was rerouted due to the flooding of the area behind the Libby Dam. Sioux Falls, Yankton and South Western Railway Company.

Incorporated in 1889 under the laws of the state of South Dakota, the company purposed to construct and operate a railway line from Sioux Falls to Yankton (S.D.). Construction funds were advanced by GN and construction was completed during 1893.
